Some Things (Should) Never Change

This is a sketch of my dad's Christmas tree, at his house in Atlanta. It was cold and rainy outside this Christmas day in Atlanta - it even snowed. Dad's little tabletop tree brightened the room.

For as long as dad has lived in Atlanta, he's lived in this apartment, and every Christmas his tree sits in this very spot. It's not big or flashy. It's not even real. But it's constant, and I love that about it.

Maybe that's why we have family traditions. They are things we can look forward to and know they will be there - reassuring and comforting in a world that's too quick to change.

Here's to family, and traditions, and to seeing this tree for years to come.
