Some sketches from a recent trip to Boca. It was fabulous, sunny and warm. Who knew there was a place where in early March you could go outside in shorts? Without a coat? Or gloves? Or a hat?
These are some quick sketches I did of our amazing view from the hotel as well as during some walks on the beach. The guys on the pier actually landed a barracuda. Much excitement about that. The pelican up on the roof (you can't see him too well in my goofy photo of the sketch) was keeping a watchful eye.
These look like they were posted by a tipsy person. Despite buying a scanner, I still shoot my sketches with my phone and email them to myself, which accounts for the lopsided placement and not-so-clear reproduction. I also realized how off-kilter my lines are - everything seems to be leaning one direction or another.
Sometimes I feel like I'm going backwards in my sketching instead of showing improvement. I guess that's the process. Maybe I just need more sun.
With wishes for more sun and warmth to come - and soon!
